Math
Intro
Math at Porter Academy is taught in small groups, so instruction can be matched to each student’s level and learning style — the same “just right challenge” approach we use across every subject. We emphasize hands-on, experiential learning: new concepts are introduced and practiced using math manipulatives and games first, so students build real conceptual understanding before moving to paper-and-pencil work. This concrete-to-abstract progression helps students genuinely grasp why math works, not just memorize steps.
