Art

Sarah Kachur

All students participate in art class. The art program provides an array of creative experiences which are structured to promote the students’ self-expression and problem-solving skills as well as acquaint them with the art and artists of many cultures. Students have the opportunity to work with two and three dimensional media including oil and soft pastels, charcoal, Sharpie, clay, and paper.

The program is designed to balance structured technique-oriented projects with assignments that accommodate greater creative options.

Students practice their social skills, working on compromise and letting go of perfectionism, as they express themselves through multiple media.

Projects are adjusted to meet the needs of students with learning styles and abilities so that every student is able to feel good about their abilities.
